Great weekend of linocut printing
Our recent lino-cutting weekend workshop was a great success. Led by workshop member Babs Pease, with support from Malcolm Barton, our participants really enjoyed the experience. As you can see they produced some great linocuts.
Relief printmaking using linoleum started towards the end of the 19th century and has evolved over the past 120 years into a well-established printmaking technique. Babs Pease tends to work using the multiplate technique, each plate representing a different colour, building up the tomes and shades using thin layers of overlaid translucent ink, usually starting with the lightest colours first.
Other linocut printmakers it’s worth looking at are Gail Broadholt, Jane Walker and Anita Klein.
